Terre Haute South fell just short in their upset bid against
city rival and tenth ranked Terre Haute North this week. The Patriots won the
spirited match 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
The match at #1 singles went to form as Todd Butwin of North
defeated Michael Favila of South 6-1, 6-3. However, South served notice this
would be a competitive day when South’s Andrew Huh downed Nick Roby in a real
duel 7-5, 7-5. That was only a precursor to the battle at #3 singles. Chris
Holcomb of North gave the patriots a 2-1 edge with a 7-6, 7-6 victory over a
game Neelay Fruhibit of South.
Drew Holcomb and Michael Fberbe of North decided the match
with a three set 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 verdict at #1 doubles. Sangeeth Jeevah and
Purdha Ponegoh of South returned the favor at #2 doubles with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4
victory for the final 3-2 tally.
