The
schools continued to fare well in MIC play this past weekend. Terre Haute South
picked up their second conference victory Friday night with a 73-64 verdict
over Center grove. City rival North won their league opener by dumping Ben Davis
59-50. Those games highlighted what was a very strong weekend for the MIC.
The other conference match-up Friday night was a showdown of
sorts. Indianapolis North Central continued their early season romp by downing
neighborhood rival
75-67. It was only the beginning of a very good weekend for the Panthers.
Saturday, the Panthers made their case for a much higher
state ranking when they demolished 4A #3 Lafayette Jeff in the Circle City
Classic at
sensation D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera led the Panthers with 22 points. However, it
was their defensive effort on the high scoring Bronchos that carried the day.
In that same event, Lawrence North took care of 2A power Fort Wayne Luers
69-57. Dominique Ferguson led the way for the Wildcats with 19 points.
Elsewhere, Terre Haute North felt the wrath of the #1 rated
Bloomington South Panthers. The Patriots fell 86-55.
downing center grove 66-59.
Central’s only contest of the week was on Thursday when the Warriors disposed
of Fishers 58-51.
