Things are
heating up on the hardwood and it was an interesting weekend for teams in the
MIC. The play was headlined by Terre Haute South’s 50-44 upset of Lawrence
North on Friday night. Anthony McGill led the Braves with 15 points. However,
it didn’t take long for Jack Keefer’s bunch to bounce back. LN demolished
Marion 70-58 in a game that was not as close as the final score indicates.
Meanwhile, Terre Haute South made it a double dip weekend by downing
Mooresville Saturday night 67-57.

The most
impressive team in the league continues to be North Central. The Panthers went
over the century mark in a 107-89 rout of Indianapolis Broad Ripple Friday
night. They then pinned an 80-55 smackdown on Lawrence Central. Justin Reid led
the Panthers with 20 points and eight rebounds. North Central is 3-0 on the
year.

Center Grove
split a pair of games. The Trojans downed Southport 69-55 Friday evening, but
fell to another Conference Indiana foe, Bloomington North, 59-58 in two
overtimes Saturday. J.T. Barton led Center Grove in the losing effort with 15
points. CG is now 2-1 on the season.

Carmel also
split a pair of games and ended the weekend at 2-1 on the year. The Greyhounds
lost a 42-40 heartbreaker to Hamilton County rival Noblesville on Friday.
Saturday, they responded by blitzing Indianapolis Tech 93-51. Morgan Newton
transferred his skills to the basketball court and led Carmel with 15 points. Terre
Haute North lost to Northview on Friday night 57-53, but rebounded with a
comfortable 48-31 triumph over Vincennes Lincoln Saturday.

It was a
tough weekend for Ben Davis. The Giants lost their season opener to Pike Friday
night 89-83 and then fell in a cliff hanger to Indianapolis Arlington 61-60.
Warren Central also lost in a barnburner. They fell to Indianapolis Cathedral
51-50 Friday night. That was the only contest for the Warriors over the
weekend.

Conference
action will really hear up Friday evening this week. Ben Davis will visit Terre
Haute North, Center Grove will be at Terre Haute South, and Carmel will renew
acquaintances with North Central on the Panthers home court.
