There is a new strategy for competing against the size and
talent of
north. It is called small ball and if Friday night is any indication, it may
catch on quickly. That is the plan Coach Mike Saylor used in guiding his Terre
Haute South Braves to a 50-44 upset of the #1 Wildcats.
At various times during the game, Terre haute South employed
five guards against LN. The theory was simple. If you can’t match up with the
Wildcats size, don’t try to do so. South made Lawrence North play their style
and it worked just enough to win.
The Braves canned 11 of 22 attempts from behind the three
point line, and put three players in double figures. They were led by Anthony
McGill who scored 15 points. The game was the conference opener for both
squads.
