Terre Haute South dominated its own invitational Aug. 12 at Rea Park in Terre Haute. The Braves set several team and personal standards while cruising to a 22-stroke victory over second-place Jasper. Among those breakthroughs, South shot a team total of 330, the best team score for the Braves in five years.
Individually, Sloane Engle took medalist honors with a 79. That was a personal 18-hole best for the junior. Alana Whitlock also set a personal best, firing an 83. Two other Braves players were in the 80s for the day as both Kelsey Fuqua and Katelyn Goshell carded 84s.
Jasper was led by an 80 from Katie Schnarr. Terre Haute North, meanwhile, finished fourth in the 10-team field. The Patriots got a big boost from freshman Rachel Welker, who shot a team-low 86.
